How to Film a Commercial Where the Main Characters Are Plush Animals… That Aren’t on Set? With a lot of preparation and a pinch of creativity.
The famous Konzum Zvjerići, this time in a safari edition, have returned to the small screen. We had the honor of collaborating with ZOO Agency to create a fresh visual story where animation meets the real world. However, Zvjerići never actually appeared on set. No, they weren’t late—they were simply waiting to be added as animated characters in post-production.
The fact that the animated characters were added later meant that the entire shoot took place without the main stars on set. This approach required meticulous planning, coordination between the filming and animation teams, and adjustments in the actors' performances—since their scene partners existed only in their imagination.
Our in-house director, Marko Knezović, and producer, Sara Horvatić, expertly tackled this challenge. The creative vision for this campaign was led by ZOO Agency’s creative director, Marin Ostojić, while the main account manager, Goran Marošević, was with us every step of the way in bringing this story to life. On set, we were also joined by ZOO Agency’s account manager, Petra Matić, as well as the Konzum team, including members from management, marketing, and even the store manager and security staff, who accompanied us through this day-and-night shoot.
The only ones missing from the shoot? The main stars—Zvjerići. But looking at the final version of the commercial, you’d never guess that was the case.
